Alii-greetings from Palau!

May 30, 2008

For those of you that have been waiting for some pics and info from me (us), sorry about the delay (two words for you…island time). For those of you that have never known us well…never mind. We have been in the Republic of Palau for about 4 months now having moved from southeastern Oklahoma (the cultural mecca of the U.S.) and live in Koror state, Ngerbodel hamlet.

In case you don’t know us, we’re a family of five (me, husband, two kids + mother-in-law) living together in a two bedroom apartment at Waterfront Villa, a.k.a. the “Melrose Place” of Palau. My husband Michael works for the Attorney General’s office here as a criminal prosecuting attorney. I do not currently have a job and stay at home with sons Jackson, 2 and Andrew, 5. Michael’s mother Millie does most of the cooking, helping out with kids, moral support, etc. which has been fabulous so far. Of course, being packed in like sardines has its drawbacks, poor Millie bunks with the boys and we all share a single bathroom. Moving from over 2600 square feet to less than 1000 square feet forces you to either become a closer family or kill each other. As I don’t want to make our first post long and drawn out, I’ll sign off for now. Below is a photo out our front door…Thanks for tuning in to our island antics…Elizabeth
